8 Senior Honors Student: Ka Ɵ e Miller Faculty Mentors: Dr. Barbara Cannella   Second Degree Students Sa Ɵ sfac Ɵ on Background The problem iden Ɵ fi ed is the challenges experienced by second-degree nursing stu- dents. Second degree nursing students have a bachelor’s degree in another discipline. Their course of study to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing o Ō en takes place year- round and lasts approximately 14 months. Typically, second degree students are older and may have already established themselves in another career as compared to tradi- Ɵ onal four-year students. The purpose of this study is to examine second-degree stu- dent sa Ɵ sfac Ɵ on and challenges as they progress through the nursing program. Methods, Tools, Par Ɵ cipants The methods for this study include reviewing school-generated student surveys from 2020 and 2021. The School of Nursing Student Engagement Survey asks students to rate their level of sa Ɵ sfac Ɵ on (educa Ɵ onal delivery, support, ability to learn). The tool consists of 40 items related to educa Ɵ onal methods, support services, and ability to learn. Items are scored using a Likert scale. A literature review was conducted for ar Ɵ cles published within the last ten years that addressed the experiences of second-degree nursing students. Key search words in- cluding second-degree, sa Ɵ sfac Ɵ on, and accelerated nursing were used in a search con- ducted using CINAHL. The search resulted in twelve ar Ɵ cles and nine were found to be relevant for use in this study. Results Results of the Student Engagement showed second-degree are sa Ɵ s fi ed with:  Clinical and simula Ɵ ons were conducive to learning  OAS tutoring, coaching, study skills  Prepara Ɵ on for transi Ɵ on to professional role  Peer support  Faculty availability, teaching methods, evalua Ɵ on methods
