Senior Honors Research Symposium 2022
7 Senior Honors Student: Tuyen Hoang Faculty Mentor: Dr. Kyeongra Yang Percep Ɵ ons of Healthy Bones & Risk Factors of Osteoporosis Background & Purpose: The osteoporosis and fall risk screening program fi rst began in 2019 as an in-person interprofessional event for students to screen community-dwelling adults. Since COVID-19, the event has switched to a hybrid format where students instruct each other virtually and screen their own cho- sen pa Ɵ ent in-person. The purposes of the program are to provide a meaningful interprofessional experience for students, iden Ɵ fy adults who are at risk for os- teoporosis and falls, and increase awareness about osteoporosis and fall risks. Method, Tools, & Par Ɵ cipants: Students were recruited from three schools at Rutgers University: nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy. They were given educa Ɵ onal materials to review and were asked to familiarize themselves with topics related to their discipline. The students were then split into facilitated groups and taught each other material pertaining to their fi eld. A Ō erwards, the students screened their adult pa Ɵ ent using a modi fi ed screening tool that was developed for this program and allows every discipline to be able to use it.
