10 Senior Honors Student: Grecia Moncada Faculty Mentors: Dr. Cheryl Holly, Bernade Ʃ e Power, Dr. Sallie Porter, Dr. Latoya Rawlins, Dr. Kimberly Seaman  Escaping the Tradi Ɵ onal Classroom The purpose of the escape room is to evaluate nursing students’ ability to properly assess and treat a pediatric pa Ɵ ent with a neurological health issue. This gaming technique allows students to apply their didac Ɵ c learning and cri Ɵ cal thinking skills to a real-life scenario. There are many pediatric admissions with neurological de fi cits, so this speci fi c case study is very bene fi cial for nursing stu- dents to learn about focused assessments. The case study also addresses ethical dilemmas that may occur with diverse popula Ɵ ons in community hospitals. The alterna Ɵ ve educa Ɵ onal strategy focuses on pa Ɵ ent-centered care and priori Ɵ zing nursing care. Throughout the escape room, students will be asked to answer NCLEX-style ques Ɵ ons. The tools u Ɵ lized in the development of the escape room include PowToon, PlayPosit, Canvas, and Qualtrics. The par Ɵ cipants are students with a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree. The results and the conclusion are pending.
